Honouring Story, Country and Culture – Campbells Camp
At the landmark 20th anniversary of Sculpture Bermagui in 2026, we were able to demonstrate the profound cultural and spiritual significance of the Country on which we gather. Central to our outdoor exhibition is the First Nations connection to a place deeply woven into the heritage of the Djiringanj Yuin.
For generations, this coastline has served as a place of gathering, sustenance, and ceremony. Campbells Camp conceived by brothers Paul and Gary Campbell, and built by them and other family members, fulfilled a long term wish to recreate their great-grandfather’s bush camp on the Headland including a bush humpy, a fire place and a display of many local cultural artefacts.
Sculpture Bermagui is committed to working alongside the Traditional Custodians to ensure that our presence on the Headland is conducted in a culturally appropriate way.
Campbells Camp was supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
