Artist Insight – Rachel Burns and Ulan Murray

Sculpture Bermagui are very lucky to have Rachel and Ulan exhibiting at our Event this year. They are in high demand and have recently won the prestigious People’s Choice award at Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi. They are in the process of mounting an exhibition for later this year in Sydney but have found time to honor us this year with their work as long-term supporters and exhibitors at Sculpture Bermagui.

Some bio information:

Ulan and Rachel are partners in both life and art and seamlessly blend their respective backgrounds in biology, horticulture and fine arts to create compelling and innovative works.

Ulan holds a degree in Biology and has a background in horticulture. His sculptural practice Is deeply influenced by his fascination with biomorphic forms and the wonders of nature, resulting in works that reflect the intricate beauty and complexity of the natural world.

Rachel studied Fine Arts at Sydney University and holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts with Honours from Wollongong University. Her artistic repertoire includes sculpture, painting and printmaking, with landscapes serving as a recurring and central motif. Rachel’s extensive experience in the arts industry enriches her practice, enabling her to create works that are both thought-provoking and evocative.

Together, Ulan and Rachel’s collaboration represents a harmonious fusion of scientific inquiry and artistic expression. Their partnership produces artworks that explore the profound connections between humanity and the nature world. Through their rich tapestry of creations, they invite viewers to contemplate and appreciate the intricate relationship between art and the environment.
